Meet Leading Lines’ head of route plan, Chloee Nantel!
As head of route plan Chloee is the trip’s portable lighthouse, guiding the team through raging rapids and lengthy flatwater sections alike. She’s responsible for the exact route that the team will take and has mapped out every possible portage, coordinated every campsite, and plotted every backup route that the team might use on the trip.
With over 11 years worth of canoe trips under her belt Chloee is arguably one of the most experienced canoeists on the trip! Among her many achievements she covered over 400km and spent 27 days paddling the entire length of the Gatineau River in 2017 as part of a trip run by Air-Eau-Bois.

Chloee’s trip goals include getting to know everyone better than she currently does and pointed out that this will be the first time that everyone on the team has been together on a trip since the beginning of the Outdoor Adventure (ODA) program. She’s also been hard at work creating a detailed route plan and as a result is hoping that the trip will flow smoothly from start to finish.
After graduating from high school Chloee was unsure of what she wanted to do next, but looking back on 11 years of canoeing she knew that she wanted to learn more about guiding and the outdoor industry. She joined Algonquin College’s ODA program in the fall of 2019 and has adopted a ‘work hard, play hard’ mentality as she balances school with laps on the Ottawa River.
Following ODA, Chloee plans to spend the next few summers as a canoe guide in the Northwest Territories for Jackpine Paddle and the subsequent off seasons in Ottawa at gear stores around the city. She is also considering exploring further outdoor focused education with an emphasis on the managerial side of the industry.
