Team Bio: Noah Robert

Meet Leading Lines' head of external communications/ destination, Noah Robert!

Noah’s roles and tasks have constantly been shifting and evolving to meet the demands of our trip. Noah’s role as the head of external communications is to be our team persona to the public. We value having a positive online presence, having channels to communicate with you, the public, and having a platform to display our progress and share our story. Noah is the guy that keeps this entire external communications portion running. As the head of destination, Noah is also responsible for understanding the history of the area, traditional activities executed in this environment, and ensuring that these key features are prevalent throughout the trip plan.

Although Noah’s canoeing experience is limited to his time in the Outdoor Adventure Program (ODA), he is by no means shy when it comes to adventure and wilderness activities. Noah is a skilled, professional rock climbing instructor who incorporates the climbing industry into his working, student, and personal lives. Although Noah was originally planning to get on the water with us, a recent accident resulting in a broken collar bone occurred, and Noah’s tasks and expectations changed yet again. Noah will be assisting the team from the sides of the river, supporting us with any external support we may need while on the trip as he follows us down to Montreal.

Noah’s revised goal for the trip is to make the team’s lives and experience as easy as possible. Offering assistance to his peers is a major factor in getting the team through this particular route, and although a collarbone injury can be debilitating, it also creates new opportunities that play an important role in our master plan.

It wasn’t until after two previous experiences with post secondary education (Royal Military College and the University of Ottawa) that Noah was guided to the ODA program. Once he realized that he spent more time at the old Vertical Reality Climbing Gym than he did on the uOttawa Campus, he decided to consider his options as a professional in the outdoor industry.

Noah will be spending this summer as a rock climbing expedition instructor for Avid4 Adventure in California, before returning to Algonquin College to wrap up his final winter semester. He plans on living the van life in the near future in order to maximize his time climbing in various regions, and to continue developing necessary skills demanded by the climbing industry.
