Meet Leading Lines’ logistics manager, Lucas Jones!
As logistics manager Lucas has the important job of ensuring that all the puzzle pieces that make up the Leading Lines trip such as trailers, vehicles, gear, and people align in just the right place at just the right time. Lucas is also responsible for coordinating shuttles to and from Montreal to make sure the team has a hassle free drive home and to spare them from a long upstream paddle back to Pembroke.
Though he’s never been on a canoe trip this long before Lucas is at home on the water and is equally comfortable in freezing rivers as he is in icy sea swells. A lover of two paddle blades rather than just one, he’s an avid sea kayaker but has also become a strong whitewater paddler as he’s spent the greater part of the past two years on the Ottawa River.

Lucas has given himself the daunting goal of keeping his canoe dry for the entire trip and so far no one has had the heart to tell him that they’ll be going in the water on the very first day. His team goals also include keeping the trip running as smoothly as possible, though he admits that obstacles and hurdles tend to make things more fun so long as they are surmountable.
After discovering his passion for sea kayaking and the outdoors in grade 11 Lucas wanted to learn more about the outdoor industry from both a guiding and business perspective. He decided to join Algonquin College’s Outdoor Adventure program (ODA) after graduating high school and since then he’s been putting his skillset to good use both on the water and in the classroom.
After graduation later this year Lucas has plans to move to Twillingate, Newfoundland where he’s found work with Rock Adventures as a sea kayaking guide for the next six months. Afterwards he plans to move to BC where he’ll start tree planting with his fellow Leading Lines teammates DJ and Wyatt.
